We want to assure you that if you’ve used TuFFGrass artificial grass in the past or are considering using our company in the future our manufacturer has had strict controls in their formulation of all our artificial grass materials for years. We are always conscious of the health and well being of our staff and our customers; kids, seniors and pets also need extra care and we always consider their safety first and foremost in choosing our material partners.
We’ve worked with our manufacturers for artificial grass and infill for over 22 years and we trust them to deliver only the best solutions on the market!
TuFFGrass Artificial Grass Infill Does Not Contain PFAS
Our infill is a semi-round coated silica sand which also does not contain lead (Pb) or PFAS-PFOS-Fluorine, phthalates, or any other chemical of concern.
Recycled Tire Crumb Rubber is Suspect for PFAS. If you read the latest articles in the news you must read the entire article to find that in fact artificial grass does not contribute to PFAS contamination but recycled tire crumb rubbers, often used as an infill or top dressing, can!
We do not use Recycled Tire Crumb Rubber as an infill – we just do not use it, ever!

Our manufacturer’s official statement about artificial grass and PFAS:
PFAS have become an increasingly debated topic with contamination now commonly found in groundwater, rainwater, and soil. Artificial turf has also come under scrutiny as a possible source of PFAS.
All synthetic turf products currently produced at Synthetic Turf Resources (STR) are manufactured without PFAS.
STR specifies that all turf ingredients be free of PFAS when purchasing raw materials.
Our raw materials and finished goods have been submitted to third-party analytical chemistry labs and tested for 32 PFAS using state-of-the-art procedures finding that PFAS concentrations were below detectable limits.

In 2020, STR removed a fluorinated polymer (non-migrating and not one of the 32 PFAS of concern) from the turf construction. This was a proactive decision over and above the regulation to eliminate doubt of PFAS during testing. Copies of Tests are available here:
